Pregnancy Q&A

Q: Should I have a baby after 35?

A: No, 35 children is enough

Q: I’m two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?

A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q: What is the most reliable method to determine the baby’s sex?

A: Child birth

Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she’s borderline irrational.

A: So what’s your question?

Q: My childbirth instructor says it’s not pain I’ll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?

A: Yes, in the same way a tornado might be called an air current.

Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?

A: Right after you find out your pregnant.

Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?

A: When the kids are in college.

Thursday Thumbnails

Isn’t this an awesome tree?  I’ve been taking pictures of it for years.  I love how it’s so muti-colored.  The reds, burgundys, greens, and golds, all blended so epically together.

The kids and I went for a walk late on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and I saw … this.

And then this!

Seems that wet, heavy snow we had a couple weeks ago was too wet and too heavy for some of the trees around here.

I was talking to Maintenance Guy V when he came over to replace my faucet and he said that all together we lost about 50 trees around here this year.  These were lost because of the snow, but the others were cut down because they had some kind of tree blight and they were trying to save the non-infected ones.  I knew we’d lost a lot but 50?!  Wow, it was even worse than I thought!

We got the tree up!  And then roasted chestnuts on an open fire.  Winking smile

I tried making those apple pie cookies – have you seen them?  Epic mess!  I feel like I wasted so much filling and dough and caramel!  It was an adorable idea but one I won’t be doing again.  I split one with my husband (we try not to eat sweets) and they tasted really good, but the kids wouldn’t touch them.  The picky eaters!  So I ended up giving them to Maintenance Guy V when he came to fix the faucet.  Smile  He liked them!  So, taste is fine, but not worth the mess to me.  Your mileage may vary.

Don’t Step In The Crack

No one witnessed the crack’s start.

proxy

Gilliland told the station that weeks later the crack had grown a lot.
“I don’t really think anyone knows what happened out there, all of a sudden it was just there. I think the reason it’s so fascinating is it’s so big. And it doesn’t make any sense, where it happened it’s just like the ground opened up, and the size of it is just huge.”

Massive Crack Opens in Wyoming

The Grand Canyon had a baby, and called it “Mini Me”!

This story really fascinated me.  I was floored when I saw the pictures in the article, because they reminded me SO much that other well-known canyon.  The features are identical.

A river didn’t cause this at all, it just happened.  I’d be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts though that water will start flowing through it at some point, because that’s what water does – finds the lowest point and flows there, it finds its own level.  And when that happens, will people in the future think the river caused the crack, when it reality it’ll be the crack that causes river to flow there?

It’s just one of those things that make me go, “Hmm.”  Our world is pretty fascinating.

Post Poblano

So, December is here now – see?
1201151500

And it’s the end of Nano Poblano. Did you manage to make it through the whole month?

I feel like I met some awesome people and I want to thank Rarasaur for that.  If not for her encouragement and … social butterfly-ness, I probably wouldn’t have.  I still don’t have the extrovert gene and it’s not likely I ever will.  Or the tall gene either, but I digress.  Winking smile

So, thank you, Ra.  *hugs*

That was fun!  Let’s do it again!
