September 19-Somethin’ Challenge | McClendon Villa19-Somethin_Sidebar_Button

This challenge is prompted by the song 19-Somethin’ by Mark Wills. You can hear the song here: https://youtu.be/UhSCeItgUEc
The following questions are taken from the various lines in the song.  There are also a few random questions thrown into the mix to make it a post a day for the month – 30 posts.

30. Reflection Post: What did you think of this challenge? OR A Random Thought Post

I thought this was an absolutely awesome challenge!  I am not good at asking people questions.  Not because I’m not curious, but because I never know what to ask.  These were great questions, and fun ones to answer.  Great work, McClendon Villa!

Really?! Again?!

She used to work here.  I called her my Sister from another mother, because we have the same Father … sorry, it’s a Believer thing.  :)  She retired and moved away a few years ago.  She came back for a visit last week, the 2nd since she’s been gone.  I wanted to take her a gift.  I had one bar of yogurt soap left.  I was going to take her something else, I mean, it was my last bar!  But, I grabbed it anyway and gave it to her.

She called me today.  I was so surprised!  She’s never called me before.

She said, “I had to call you and tell you, because I just felt like the Lord wanted me to tell you, honey you need to start selling your soap!”

I about fell on the floor.

I told her about the recent conversation I had with S–.  “Our S–?!  From the office?  He talked to you about your soap?”

I told her what he’d said and that I’d been praying about it because I wasn’t sure if this was something I should pursue or not.

She replied, “Well then I guess you just got your confirmation!”

I wish there was some way I could convey the heaps of blessing she just piled on me.

September 19-Somethin’ Challenge Day 29

29. Were you into Star Wars or were you a Trekkie? Both or neither?

I never saw a Star Wars movie until the third one came out, which was really episode 6 apparently.  So I never got into that whole thing.

I was about 5 when I saw my first Star Trek episode.  My parents were still married, so all of us were living in the same house.  My sister, who was older, wanted to watch Star Trek.  I wanted to watch Mr. Rogers.  We fought.  My mother decided in my sister’s favor.  That episode was the one with the rock monster and Abraham Lincoln.  I was mesmerized, and have been a Trekker ever since.

28. When did you go on your first date? What did you do? Where did you go? Did you go out on another date with that person?

I was a much-too-young fourteen.  I honestly don’t remember what we did.  It was a neighbor boy, he was eighteen.

Really?

We were chatting about soaping, he had several questions, and then he asked, “So, you say you’d like to make this a business, what’s keeping you from making it a business?”

I kind of laughed.  “Well, you’ve seen my place!  Space, really, at the heart of it.  I just don’t have the room.  I could make soap all day long, but without a place to store it for drying, I just don’t know how I could make this more than a hobby.”

He replied, “What if I could get you the space?”

27. What do you remember the most from the year that you turned 19? What was going on in your life back then?

The year I turned 19 … personally, a year with a lot of teen angst in it, dating, you know.  On a larger scale, let’s see … (asking Google what happened back then because I was too wrapped up in my own life to remember exactly what happened that year …) a Korean air liner was shot down by a Soviet fighter jet.  I do remember that.  Sally Ride was the first female astronaut, on the Challenger’s first voyage, I remember that, too.  And an explosion at a Beirut nightclub killed 237 US Marines.  Oh boy, I do remember that.
