Infinity Dreams Award

My friend Steve, who blogs at Cry and Howl, has nominated me for an award.  It’s called the Infinity Dreams Award.  Isn’t that a cool name?  Thank you, Steve, for thinking of me!  You’re a good friend, a good man, and I’m honored to know you!  *hugs*

My job is to list 7 dreams, and 3 nominations.  For blogs that spread love, joy, and inspiration – you know, all good things – there are a few that I look to, blogs I know are going to make me smile, or be encouraged.

I enjoy reading my friend Sparkling Red’s blog, Adventures in Sparkland, because she always has a good story or fun thing happening.  Even if it’s a trip to the mall, she makes it fun, interesting, and humorous.  No one does photo essays like Spark!

Lately I’ve been having a good time getting to know Devin, at D.K. Pope | writing (writing, writing) to make sense of this world.  I am encouraged when I read her blog.  As a young wife and mother, she’s got a great deal of common sense that’s so refreshing.

Last but not least, I cannot fail to mention my friend Angie, who blogs at Family Love Does More | Midlife, Social Media, and Getting Stuff Done.  Now is my turn to nominate her for something!  Angie is a spot of sunshine – encouraging, looking on the bright side, kind, inspiring, and funny too.

These ladies are worth your time, I promise.  Smile

Now, my dreams.  In a general sense, that is.

  • Revival of the faith that spread the Gospel
  • Restoration of the principles that founded our nation
  • Rescue of the hoping-to-be-born, the homeless, the hungry, the hopeless
  • Regeneration of health and healing to my husband and myself
  • Realization of the goals we (my husband, self, and kids) have set for ourselves
  • Revelation – this one encompasses To revel, Elation, and Rejoicing.  And also knowledge.  Open-mouthed smile
  • Riches.  Who doesn’t need more money?

Those are the things I think about sometimes.

Your turn!

Nature Monday

Time for my weekly garden post!  I know you were waiting with much anticipation!  Winking smile  I had a bit of a hiccup this week.  We had some rain over the weekend, Friday night or Saturday morning, I can’t recall.  I didn’t water, thinking we’d had lots of rain, so everything would be all right.  But when I went out Sunday evening, oh my goodness, my poor plants were screaming in distress!  I felt like the worst gardener ever.  They were droopy and wilted, some were turning awful shades of yellow, it was terrible!  So I spent most of the evening after dinner deadheading and watering.  Then, of course, it poured Sunday night and Monday morning.  At least the plants have had a good drenching now that should carry them for a couple days.

Fortunately, things still look pretty decent, if not as full.

I couldn’t decide on a favorite again this week.  I was struck by this pot – all Dianthus, in varying colors.  It’s very lush still, and I love the combination of the pinks with the white.

Then there’s this pot.  I love this pot.  I know I picked it once before, but it continues to shine and only gets better with time.  The Sweet Alyssum is just exploding with tons of little white flowers that are sooooo fragrant.  I wish I could make this a scratch-n-sniff picture, you’d be in flowery heaven.  The Dusty Miller is starting to show it’s silvery leaves now, the Dianthus are giving a nice focal point, and the purple Potato Vine is starting to bush out and will soon start to cascade over the edges of the pot.

All in all, things are still looking pretty nice, despite my unintentional mini-drought that I inflicted on the garden, so I am glad.  It’s a reminder to me that even when it rains, still check the plants!  Sometimes the rain isn’t enough.

So how’s your garden or other hobby going this week?

Mom:  AAAHHH!  What the heck is that thing?!

Daughter, who came running to see why mom yelled:  Who would send you such a thing?

Mom:  It was in my LOLcats feed.

Daughter:  Then it was a LOLspider.

Mom:  There is no such thing as a LOLspider.  They are not funny.

Daughter:  There is only AAAAHHHHspiders.

Mom: Now you’re on a roll today!

Overheard at my house

Son:  It’s weird, adults who hate kids – it’s like they forgot they used to be kids.

Daughter:  You know what’s even more ironic?  Kids like us – kids who hate kids.

I busted up laughing at that point so they knew I was listening.  To clarify, my daughter wasn’t talking about kids in general, but the out of control kids they sometimes see when we go out, the ones that parents never seem to tell to behave.

Funnies

Morning Chuckle: A very shy guy goes into a bar and sees a beautiful woman sitting at the other end.

After an hour of gathering up his courage he finally goes over to her and asks, tentatively, “Um, would you mind if I chatted with you for a while?”

To which she responds by yelling, at the top of her lungs, “No, I won’t sleep with you tonight!”

By now, the entire bar is staring at them. Naturally, the guy is hopelessly and completely embarrassed and he slinks back to his table.

After a few minutes, the woman walks over to him and apologizes. She smiles at him and says, “I’m sorry if I embarrassed you. You see, I’m a graduate student in psychology and I’m studying how people respond to embarrassing situations.”

To which he responds, at the top of his lungs, “What do you mean $200!”

*****

HAHAHA!  I LOVE this one!  And my husband will know why – one time many years ago, we were “victim” to just such a student, in a grocery store.  I SO wish I’d had a punch line handy back then!

Happy last weekend in June!
